Participate in the Zoom Town Hall to learn more about this statewide quality improvement endeavor.  This will be an interactive opportunity to learn more about unique resources and strategies for supporting effective communication with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in healthcare settings, specifically regarding HIV care. The town hall will be hosted by our Deaf Subcommittee Co-Chairs Sam Dien and Cindy Aponte who will introduce the AIDS Institute’s quality improvement effort to optimize communication in healthcare settings for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing living with HIV to improve health outcomes, care retention and more!

At the Town Hall you will also hear from experts in the field:

• Christopher Woodfill, MA, MS, CRL, the Executive Director of the NYS Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing Office
• Toni Iacolucci, MSW, is co-creator of Healthcare with Hearing Loss, a member of the strategic team for the Hearing Loss Association of America’s (HLAA) Communication Access in Health Care program, and co-author of the Guide for Effective Communication in Healthcare.
• Kelly Matthews, BSW, MPH, the Outreach and Senior Health Coordinator at the University of Rochester’s National Center for Deaf Health Research
• The Digital Health Initiative Team, at the New York State Department of Health on their TestedComic and Learning Model
